Our kitties need YOU to help make their second chance at a happy life a reality. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or be accompanied by a parent or guardian during all volunteer activities. We have many opportunities for volunteers, including:
Sanctuary Cat Caregiver
Our Sanctuary is home for many of our rescued felines. Cat Caregivers ensure that their home is clean and safe, and that they have regular human interaction to help regain their trust in people. Shifts are once a week, mornings or evenings for approximately 2 hours. Responsibilities include: Cleaning, feeding, socializing, and environmental enrichment.
Adoption Center Cat Caregiver
We have two shifts a day staffed by cat-savvy volunteers at our Petco location in Gilbert (1415 E Warner Rd – Warner and Val Vista). Duties include feeding, litter boxes, and loving the kitties while they await a forever home.
Cat Foster Parent
Do you love caring for cats? We need loving foster parents to give Save the Cats Arizona rescue cats a temporary home while they wait to be adopted. Duration varies from 2 weeks to a few months. Volunteers must be at least 21, experienced at caring for cats and be able to provide a safe, cat friendly home. Supplies can be provided by Save the Cats Arizona. Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler area preferred. If a foster cat is unable to be adopted after a reasonable time, they will be returned to the Save the Cats Sanctuary.
Grant writer
Help save lives! We need experienced grant writers to help us win much needed funding to support our important work.
Responsibilities include: researching and recommending appropriate grants, working with the Save the Cats Arizona Board to gather information about the organization, and completing the grant application including writing a compelling story about the great work we do.
Fundraising Events Organizer
Do you have experience organizing events but also want to make a difference in the life of a rescued cat? This is the opportunity for you! Save the Cats Arizona needs volunteers to organize various fundraising events planned throughout the year. These include benefits at local restaurants and larger events such as our yearly three-day garage sale. Responsibilities include: overall event planning, coordinating with the venue, coordinating volunteers, overseeing the event implementation, and record keeping. You may elect to head up one event or several.
Cat Sanctuary Deep Clean Help
Can’t commit to a weekly volunteer gig but still want to help rescued cats have a better life? Become a Deep Clean Specialist! With approximately 70 felines in our Sanctuary, a regular deep cleaning is important to the health and wellbeing of our kitties. Responsibilities vary but may include: removing fur from cat furniture, sanitizing water and food bowls, washing walls and floors, cleaning cat cubbies and shelves, replacing linens, and sanitizing litter boxes. Our Deep Clean sessions are held the second Saturday of every month in the morning.
Handyman/Maintenance
Good with your hands and like to build things? Become a part of our maintenance crew. The sanctuary is in need of repairs and upgrades from time to time. Responsibilities include: repair of flooring, fencing, enclosures, lighting, shelving, roof, etc.
Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician
Looking for an experienced Veterinarian or Vet Tech who would like to donate a couple hours a month to our rescued felines. Must be experienced with handling ferals and fractious cats. Responsibilities include: a general wellness checkup, administering injections, blood withdrawal, and monitoring and advising on the health of our rescued cats.
